Water scarcity in university of Maiduguri

The university of Maiduguri prides itself on providing education to it’s diverse students body, fostering character development alongside academic excellence.
The school have both female and male hostels accommodating over ten thousand students. However life at the university is becoming challenging due to severe water scarcity, especially in the female hostel.
Water scarcity in the university particularly in the female hostel is a problem with far reaching implications, it affects the daily lives of students compromising their access to basic amenities and hindering their academic pursuit.
The scarcity of water in the hostel poses a significant challenge to student’s academic performance. Female students residing in the hostel endure long wait in cues everyday sometimes at the expense of attending classes or other academic engagements. Sometimes the female students have to endure the shame of going all the way to the male’s hostel to fetch water which can be time consuming and energy drawing especially in the hot weather furthered impending students ability to focus on their Studies.
According to some students, the situation is dire and frustrating , they added that they came to the university to pursue their Studies and enhance their future prospects not to spend precious time waiting in line for a basic necessity like water.
